Chichester District Council has published its Southbourne Allocation Development Plan Document (DPD) for public consultation.
The DPD allocates land for development east of Southbourne village, building on the identification of Southbourne as a Broad Location for Development under Policy A13 of the Chichester Local Plan 2021–39.
Once in place, the DPD will be the primary tool used to determine planning applications within the Southbourne allocation area.
This is a Regulation 19 consultation, meaning the Council intends to submit the DPD to the Secretary of State for independent examination by a Planning Inspector.
Representations must be submitted by 17:00 on 17 July 2026.
Chapman Lily Planning is actively involved in a number of projects across Chichester District and has detailed knowledge of the local planning landscape. If you have land or development interests in or around Southbourne, or anywhere else in the district, now is the time to act — the Regulation 19 stage is your last formal opportunity to influence the DPD before it is submitted for examination.
