Somerset Council has commenced its Somerset Local Plan Scoping Consultation, representing the first formal stage in preparing a new Local Plan to guide growth and development across the county to 2045. The consultation opened on the 19th of June 2026 and will remain open until 11:59pm on Friday 24th July 2026.
This limited consultation window seeks views from residents, businesses, landowners, developers and other interested parties on the issues that should be addressed through the new Local Plan, as well as how stakeholders should be engaged throughout the plan-making process.
This provides an important opportunity for those with an interest in land and development within Somerset to influence the future planning strategy for the county at an early stage. Responses received will help inform the evidence base and policy framework that will shape the emerging Somerset Local Plan 2045.
Here at Chapman lily Planning we have extensive experience promoting sites through the Local Plan process and can help ensure your land is presented in the strongest possible light as the new Somerset Local Plan progresses.
