With just weeks remaining until the 13 October 2025 deadline, Dorset Council’s Local Plan Options Consultation is entering its final phase and now is the time for residents, landowners, and businesses to make their voices heard.
This consultation marks the first formal opportunity for developers, landowners and the public to comment on the emerging Local Plan, which will guide development across the Dorset Council area for the next 17 years. It sets out more than 240 opportunity sites that could deliver around 33,000 new homes, alongside proposals for employment land, renewable energy projects, and accommodation for Gypsies, Travellers, and Travelling Showpeople.
The consultation documents include four detailed appendices:
Appendix A – Housing sites
Appendix B – Employment land
Appendix C – Traveller accommodation
Appendix D – Renewable energy opportunities
A summary of responses is expected to be published after the consultation closes, providing transparency on the feedback received and how it will influence the next version of the plan.
