The Bournemouth Property Association’s recent breakfast event at the Queens Hotel on Bournemouth’s East Cliff brought together industry experts to examine the planning issues in and around BCP. The well-attended seminar featured three distinguished speakers (including our very own Brett Spiller) who provided insights into current planning challenges and opportunities from their professional perspectives, addressing the critical issue of sustainable development delivery across the region. The event combined networking opportunities with presentations that explored the relationship between vision, implementation, and deliverability in modern planning.
Jonathan Leigh, Associate Director was in attendance and commented: “The quality of expertise assembled for this breakfast roundtable provided exceptional value for attendees seeking to understand the current planning landscape”.
Wendy Lane’s (Head of Planning BPC Council) presentation highlighted recent and anticipated changes in Government policy and guidance (there is still a lot to come through), as well as how BCP Council are reacting to, and embracing change, through the Local Plan process. Her presentation offered crucial insights into the challenges faced by all local authorities such as how to take residents and members on the journey, ensuring that they have the facts and can make informed judgements.
Brett Spiller looked across the fence to surmise how neighbouring authorities are fairing and how emerging Local Plans are shaping up. This alluded to the scale of the pipeline and opportunity to push forward with promotions and speculative applications.
Mark Chevis’s (Land and Planning Director at CG Fry) housebuilder perspective, highlighted some of the practical realities of delivering homes on the ground.
Thanks again to the BPA for hosting such a great event.
