On Tuesday this week, Chapman Lily Planning had the pleasure of meeting and accompanying the President of the Royal Town Planning Institute Lindsay Richards on her visit to east Dorset. She was shown around the impressive Wyatt homes development at Rivers Edge Wimborne and then onto the 30ha strategic scale Canford Riverside SANG. Sam McKirdy guided us around the northern part of the SANG that serves to divert recreational pressures from over 1,000 new homes nearby away from protected heathland. We also discussed patronage and the public benefits of the SANG in terms of health, wellbeing and biodiversity. Lindsay was curious as to how the link between new development and public access to hitherto private land is communicated.
Thereafter we squeezed in a visit to the pioneering green hydrogen plant operated by Canford Renewable Energy and supported by Low Carbon Dorset. Sophia Dykes of Chapman Lily Planning relayed the positive planning journey, making excellent use of a restored landfill. Rob Dowling explained that renewable electricity generated from the neighbouring solar PV array powers an electrolyser to create hydrogen which is turn used to fuel commercial vehicles. Truly a green energy scheme.
Brett Spiller, Director of Chapman Lily Planning stated ‘it was an absolute pleasure to meet Lindsay and showcase some of the groundbreaking planning work taking place here in Dorset and Poole. Chapman Lily Planning have been proud to work with Canford Renewable Energy on a wide variety of innovative projects which are transforming the lives of those living and working in North Poole as well as further afield’.
