The Borough of Poole has published its draft new local plan for public consultation. The Draft Local Plan covers the period up to 2033 and sets out how the Council intends to deliver a minimum target of 14,200 new homes over the period 2013-2033. This represents a delivery of at least 710 homes per year, which would be a significant increase over the 500 homes a year that the Council’s current plan provides for. Whilst some of that delivery is likely to be from ‘windfall’ development through the redevelopment of existing properties, the plan also identifies new sites for development including; The Poole Stadium site (430 homes), Turlin Moor North (400 homes), Land west of Bearwood (300 homes), the Civic Centre and surrounds (250 homes), Land North of Bearwood (800 homes) and Land North of Merley (500 homes), as well as various smaller sites.
The draft plan will be considered at the meeting of the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee on the 21st of June and if approved will be subject to public consultation due to take place over the summer.
