The Council’s review identifies a number of changes to the current pre-application service. Among the various proposed changes the applicant can now choose the level of pre-application advice that they desire, rather than receiving an overview from the council. This means that the Council can help guide, assist and suggesting alternatives (as appropriate) to various development proposals more effectively. Redesigning the pre-application service hopes to increase the uptake and improve the variety of options for development (depending on project sizes).
Emma Ralphs, Planning Graduate welcomes these changes, ‘allowing applicants to choose how much or how specific the advice needs to be to provide flexibility and assistance directly in certain aspect of the development. The proposed changes would likely increase the deliverability and speed of the decision process for future applications for different levels of development’.
The changes to the pre-application service is currently under consultation until the 6th November 2020. If you wish to know more, please contact Chapman Lily Planning for further information.
