1st April saw eight existing Northamptonshire Councils combine to form two new Unitary Councils.
The new West Northamptonshire Council will cover the former areas of Daventry District, Northampton and South Northants; Whilst North Northamptonshire Council will cover Wellingborough, Kettering, Corby and East Northants. This shift seeks to deliver more efficient services, ensuring value for money for local residents.
Emma Ralphs, Graduate of Chapman Lily Planning explained; ‘Despite this shift occurring on April fools day, there is much to commend about the merger. The new administrative jurisdictions make sense from a planning perspective, reflecting regional infrastructure and functional links between settlements. We look forward to working with these two new Councils in the near future’
