Chapman Lily Planning participated in this week’s breakfast roundtable meeting with Cllr Ian Thorn, Leader of Wiltshire Council, alongside key members of the development community. The strategic discussion, hosted by David McFarlane of SP Broadway, provided valuable insights into the Council’s priorities. With Wiltshire’s housing target nearly doubled to 3,525 homes per year under the December 2024 NPPF and the council demonstrating only 2.42-year housing land supply, the roundtable offered an insight on how the new administration plans to address these significant planning challenges while the Local Plan remains under examination by the Planning Inspectorate.
“This was an invaluable opportunity to engage directly with Cllr Thorn and understand the new administration’s approach to planning and development delivery,” comments Jonathan Leigh, Associate Director at Chapman Lily Planning. “With Wiltshire facing substantial housing delivery pressures and the Local Plan subject to immediate review if adopted, it is essential that we maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers. The discussion provided important clarity on the Council’s strategic direction and highlighted opportunities for collaborate working between the development section and the new administration.”
