A recent report from West Dorset, Weymouth and Portland Councils has found a shortfall in the Council’s five-year housing land supply.
The Councils have calculated that for the period 2016-2021 a supply of 6,240 dwellings is required across the joint local plan area (the area covering West Dorset, Weymouth and Portland). The total number of deliverable site within the joint local plan area is 6,177 dwellings. This results in a shortfall of housing land supply with the Councils only being able to demonstrate a 4.9 year supply – this is a very marginal shortfall!
