A new RTPI study of six large housing developments in the South West of England has reported that large scale housing developments can have a positive effect on house prices, playing an important role in solving the housing crisis.
Brett Spiller of Chapman Lily Planning is a longstanding member of the Regional Management Board of Royal Town Planning Institute SW, who commissioned the independent research. In commenting on the findings, Brett was pleased to see some practical recommendations come from the research, with emphasis placed upon the resources necessary to deliver new communities. Given the scale of the challenge Brett fully endorses the view that ‘we cannot afford not to think big’.
