Portsmouth City has just commenced a consultation on an updated masterplan for Portsmouth’s seafront. Setting out how the seafront could be improved and conserved, it sets out ambitious plans for the future, such as major alterations to Avenue de Caen to proritise cyclists and pedestrians. On reading the masterplan, Steve Tapscott, senior planner at Chapman Lily commented how ‘Portsmouth has an iconic stretch of seafront and it is encouraging to see the Council’s bold ambitions for making enhancements and conserving its culturally and historically significant aspects. In this Covid environment, ensuring people have good access to quality outdoor facilities is extremely important’.
