Chapman Lily Planning are delighted to have secured planning permission for a new leisure complex at Herston Yard Farm (holiday park: camping, caravan and log cabins) which is located north of Swanage, within the AONB and open countryside. The client was looking to upgrade the facilities they currently provide to develop their high-end visitor experience. The plans were produced by local architects RB Studios.
Chapman Lily Planning submitted pre application advice to Dorset Council which enabled positive dialogue with planning officers at the start of the journey. The proposal was for a two storey building for leisure and entertainment with ancillary office accommodation. The proposal includes a swimming pool, gym, treatment rooms, bar/café, reception area and ancillary office accommodation contained within a bespoke two storey building. The planning application was supported by a Landscape and Visual Assessment (LIVA), drainage strategy, ecological survey, lighting strategy, transport strategy and detailed proposed landscaping plan, which demonstrated that this proposal would not have an adverse impact on the AONB. The design of the building, proposed use of materials and landscaping all helped in securing this planning permission for our client. The proposal will provide additional jobs both permanent and seasonal, increase visitor footfall and spending which brings wider economic benefits to Swanage and Purbeck.
