Alan Davies (Associate Director) has this morning just received a position update from Dorset Council regarding the phosphates issue in Poole Harbour. In an email from a case officer it is explained that ‘We have been updated that it will be further 4-6 weeks until we have clarification from Natural England regarding the issue of phosphorous in the Poole Harbour Catchment. With the uncertainty over the NE position, and the need to apply the cautionary principle, we cannot currently issue approvals in the Poole Harbour Catchment, where there would be an increased impact on nutrient neutrality.’
Alan explained ‘Whilst the update is welcomed, it is disappointing that further delays are being caused whilst clarification from Natural England is awaited’.
