Chapman Lily Planning is delighted to have secured planning permission for the conversion and extension of the former Portman Hotel in Bournemouth. Brett Spiller, Director of Chapman Lily Planning, explained “We worked closely with officers at Bournemouth Borough Council to arrive at a scheme that safeguards the future of this landmark building and bring it back into active use, providing 20 much needed homes close to a District Centre. The Boscombe Neighbourhood Plan was published for consultation during the consideration of the application. Whilst, the Neighbourhood Plan was at an early stage and could only be attributed limited weight, the applicant was keen to adhere to the spirit of the policies set out therein. This resulted in a number of amendments; notably the housing mix was rebalanced if favour of fewer larger homes and the external space reconfigured to improve the amenity of future occupiers. This is a great example of how all parties can work together to find creative solutions.” To find out more please contact us.
