On 6th July 2020, New Forest District Council resolved to adopt the Local Plan 2016-2036 Part One: Planning Strategy. This follows several years of preparation, including public consultations and an examination by the Planning Inspectorate. Commenting on the adoption of the plan, Steve Tapscott, senior planner at Chapman Lily, said ‘this is an important milestone for New Forest District Council and provides certainty for developers and the public as to where development is likely to go over the coming years. However, national policy makes clear that plans have to be revised in whole or in part every five years, so it is likely work will commence immediately on the next local plan’.
If you have land in the New Forest district area and would like to know how the new plan affects you, or would like to promote it for development through the next local plan, feel free to get in touch with Chapman Lily Planning and we’d be happy to discuss it with you.
