Chapman Lily Planning were delighted to secure planning permission for a temporary Budgens store in Holt, Norfolk on behalf of Booker Retail Partners GB Ltd & Morton Enterprises Ltd. Sadly, a devastating fire destroyed the permanent store, leaving the town without a convenience offer. Local residents were forced to drive to the nearby towns of Sheringham, Fakenham or Aylsham enduring a c.22km round trip. The absence of a store also had an immediate impact upon footfall within the town centre and served to displace jobs. Bookers and Morton Enterprises, moved quickly to remedy the situation, applying for permission for a temporary store whilst the permanent store is being rebuilt. North Norfolk District Council were pro-active in lending support. Brett Spiller, Director at Chapman Lily Planning added ‘I can only praise the planning service and internal consultees for their diligence and dedication, which led to a timely solution being put in place that benefits the whole community’.
Chapman Lily Planning were equally enthused to secure planning permission for an extension to Unisystems international distribution centre in Witham, Essex. Unisystems Freight, first incorporated in 1990, has grown steadily over the past three decades. The company provide import and export services (by land, air and sea), including consolidation, warehousing, track and trace services. The company has a reputation for innovation having invested heavily in freight handling and logistic software. Owing to a combination of Unisystem Freight’s expanding business and reputation, Covid 19 and Brexit, the company has seen a marked increase in trade. We were therefore pleased to help deliver much needed new floorspace. Credit where credit’s due, Braintree Council’s planning service were very receptive to the needs of this growing local business, so we can all share in their future success.
Emma Ralphs, planning graduate at Chapman Lily Planning, commented ‘The common thread is that both schemes utilise buildings designed, manufactured and installed by Mar-Key Group, one of the UK’s leading suppliers.
