Chapman Lily Planning have been tracking the progress of the Portsmouth Local Plan and are pleased to announce that the formal consultation will soon be taking place! Portsmouth City Council are formally consulting from the 9th of July for 8 weeks, until the 3rd of September 2024, giving individuals and organisations the opportunity to raise any comments or concerns the plans content.
The Local Plan for Portsmouth is now in its final stages of being prepared after being discussed by Councillors and approved on the 28th of May for a final round of technical public consultation. Providing no matters are raised that the Council consider go to the heart of soundness or legal compliance, the Local Plan will be submitted for independent examination. Once adopted, it will become the statutory development plan for Portsmouth, guiding development in the city up to 2040.
The new Local Plan will replace the existing Portsmouth Core Strategy (adopted 2012), Somerstown and North Southsea Area Action Plan (adopted 2012), Southsea Town Centre Area Action Plan (adopted 2007), and a number of saved policies from the Portsmouth City Local Plan (2006).
Portsmouth Local Plan will be available for viewing on the Portsmouth City Council website on the 9th of July.
