Dorset Council’s Strategic Planning Team has announced that the ‘Call for Sites’ 2024 is now open. Dorset Council is asking landowners to submit land for consideration as part of the Dorset Council Local Plan. The deadline for submitting sites for consideration is 20 December 2024.
Through this Call for Sites, the council is looking for land that may have the potential for:
- New homes (including for the settled and Gypsy and Traveler communities).
- Employment land.
To clarify, any submission will be considered as to whether it is suitable for the intended use (having regard to relevant planning policies, site characteristics and any supporting information/evidence provided), whether development would be viable and whether there are any limitations on the way the land could be used which could restrict development.
If you have any questions regarding the ‘Call for Sites’ – for example, how to submit a site, or the information required to submit land to the Council for consideration, please contact us here at Chapman Lily Planning.
Director, Brett Spiller commented: ‘I cannot overemphasise the importance of engaging with Dorset Council in this unique window of opportunity. This is a key process in the long-term planning for Dorset. If successful, land would be incorporated in the adopted Dorset Council Local Plan, meaning that the principle of development is supported by the Council and therefore a planning application for that site which is in line with the Plan aims and ambitions should be met positively by officers. Chapman Lily Planning has considerable experience in submitting proposals on behalf of our clients – we have done so in the past in Dorset and indeed many other Local Authorities across the country. I cannot stress too strongly that this is a unique opportunity not to be missed. Please do get in touch with us soonest, to ensure you can meet the deadline’.
