‘The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) requires new development to make a payment towards the cost of strategic infrastructure – such as roads, parks and schools. It is calculated on a per sqm basis’
Christchurch and East Dorset Council’s have adopted their charging schedule, but they don’t take effect until 3rd January 2017. Planning applications and appeals determined after this time will be liable for CIL at the following rates:
Type | Rate per sqm* |
Residential (scheme of more than 10 dwellings) | £70 |
Residential (scheme of 10 dwellings or less / less than 1000sqm) | £150 |
Care homes | £40 |
Convenience retail | £110 |
*Some exclusions and exemptions apply
Allowing for normal Local Planning Authority timescales, there is now only a very a short window of opportunity to submit applications for determination ahead of CIL taking effect.
