Michael Tomlinson MP delivered a presentation to local businesses on 13th November 2015, talking about the Government’s role in stimulating employment growth, the issues of rural broadband coverage, and his campaign for fairer funding for local education.
When quizzed about the property market, and specifically assistance for first time buyers in what is an increasingly competitive market with constrained supply, Michael alluded to the Governments well documented Starter Homes Initiative which is aimed specifically at assisting first time buyers under the age of 40 years to access the property market.
Brett Spiller, Director of Chapman Lily Planning, posed a question to Michael on his thoughts on where the new homes and employment premises that are required should be built? Michael relayed his experiences in relation to recent new developments locally in and around Wimborne, Dorset, and notwithstanding his long held views on the need to protect the Green Belt, he acknowledged the need for an appropriate balance to be struck.
