Portsmouth City Council has sent out a ‘Call for Sites’ for new employment and housing sites. Landowners and developers are invited to submit details of sites in the City that are considered to be suitable and available for development. The sites that are submitted will be assessed in an update to the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA).
The HELAA is the Council’s main evidence base study on land supply within the City to support the emerging Portsmouth Local Plan. The purpose of the HELAA is to demonstrate the availability of land for housing and employment development, showing how that land may be brought forward to meet local development needs. It is important for the Council to update the HELAA on a regular basis, to ensure an accurate representation of land availability within the City.
The City Council is interested in new sites which are at least 0.25 hectares in size and able to accommodate:
- five or more new dwellings; or
- 500 sqm or more of new employment floorspace
Site submissions need to be submitted on the official proforma by Friday 25th April 2025.
Chapman Lily Planning Director, Brett Spiller, explained; We have extensive experience of successfully promoting client’s sites for inclusion in council evidence bases. We would be pleased to promote sites on your behalf. Please contact us for further information.
