After 20 years with little progress, BCP Council has stepped in and agreed to purchase the former power station site in Hamworthy in Poole to bring it forward for redevelopment. This vacant brownfield site could deliver around 830 new homes and regenerate a 40 acre part of the town. Speaking after the announcement, Brett Spiller, director at Chapman Lily, finds this a very positive move: ‘I would like to congratulate the Council for stepping in where the market has failed to deliver for so many years. This is a complex site, but we hope that the Council will soon be able to facilitate the delivery of the affordable homes and community infrastructure that Poole town centre needs’.
Chapman Lily Planning has much experience of bringing forward sites in Poole, including in the regeneration area. If you would like to know how this announcement might affect you, please get in touch.
