Chapman Lily Planning is delighted to have secured planning permission on appeal to build a pair of semi-detached houses in a residential rear garden in East Dorset. The Inspector agreed with our arguments that the form, design and scale of the houses would be in keeping with other properties in the area and that the proposals would create a more inclusive and reinforced residential street scene, enhancing the residential element of the street. The Inspector noted the Council’s concern about further piecemeal development in the vicinity of the site and its preference for a comprehensive approach to housing development. However, he agreed with Chapman Lily’s argument that there is no evidence that the Council is pursuing a strategy to achieve this, and given the location of the site in a sustainable location in Wimborne Minster, it is suitable for additional residential development.
